Parents

Saint Sebastian’s offers a unique education for children in the local area as a provider of education with a strong Christian ethos combined with smaller than average class sizes – our classes will never usually exceed 26 children. With only one intake per year your child is able to enjoy the full educational and pastoral benefits of this. As a church school we focus on Christian beliefs and practice however we welcome children from all faiths, our pupils learn about Christianity and other faiths in RE lessons.

Choosing the right school for your child is a very important decision, and we are confident that Saint Sebastian's School offers an enriching, high-quality education in a caring, welcoming Christian environment where your child will be nurtured and encouraged to achieve high standards in all aspects of their development.

Buddy System:

When our youngest children enter foundation stage we understand that it can be very daunting and some children may be anxious or apprehensive . At Saint Sebastian’s we proudly run a buddy system where pupils in Year 6 undertake a mentoring role for our foundation stage pupils. This system proves to be extremely popular amongst the pupils, with the older children excited to take on young charges before they even enter Year 6 and for the foundation stage children to have an older child guiding and supporting them. We are committed to providing a caring, supportive environment for our pupils to learn in, and the personal well-being of all of our pupils is at the heart of everything that we do.

Resources

For a small school we have excellent facilities including a spacious school hall, computers in every classroom, laptops for each child, well stocked library and interactive whiteboards in every classroom to enable the teachers and children alike to develop their skills in computing. Our playground has a wide range of dedicated sport activities for sports such as football, netball etc.. as well as the additional amenities found in the adjacent sports field such as football pitches and open areas for athletics and cricket.

Our links with Saint Sebastian's Church are very strong, and we visit the church each month for worship and celebrations. This partnership is very special to us, and parents and carers are encouraged to join us for special occasions in church.

Finally, we believe that the partnership between school and home is an important part of a child’s development. We have an open door policy, where parents are encouraged to make an appointment to come into school to talk about their child’s progress and development, whenever they feel it is necessary. We know that children are happiest when home and school work together for their benefit and many opportunities will arise for you to be involved in the life of Saint Sebastian's Primary School during your child’s time with us.
