Inspiring and nurturing young hearts and minds

Key Stage 2

Children follow the National Curriculum programmes of study throughout Key Stage 2. The children are encouraged to become independent learners so as to fulfill their potential in a broad and balanced curriculum.

We believe that children flourish in a safe and caring environment. We strive to instill good values in each child – encouraging self respect, care of others and consideration of our environment.

In year 6, pupils will take the statutory tests in line with all maintained schools and this will allow us to benchmark their attainment and progress against pupils from other schools.

Here is an example of a typical school day.

8.50am    School starts
9.00am    Register and Lunch orders
9.05am    English
10.00am  Assembly
10.15am  RE/Music/PE/French
11.00am  Break
11.20am  Maths
12.15pm  Lunch
1.15pm    Register/Reading
1.25pm    Science/Art/DT/Geography/History/Computing
3.15pm    Home time

PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education) and Citizenship are taught separately and as part of the broader curriculum.

Partnerships and visits to maintained secondary and independent senior schools (see Secondary School information in Community Links ) will be offered  as part of a comprehensive programme in year 6 to ensure transition is smooth and effortless as they continue their academic journey into year 7 and beyond.
