If you are interested in applying for the Parent Governor vacancy then we are asking all prospective candidates to contact the Headteacher in order to discuss the role prior to submitting a nomination form. Please contact the school office to arrange this.
If you would like to proceed with your application then please complete the attached nomination form and return it to school by 3.15 Tuesday 24th September in a sealed envelope marked ‘Confidential – Parent Governor Nomination’. No nominations will be accepted after this time.
Definition of a Parent Governor
A parent governor is a person who is appointed as a member of the local governing body of the school and
who is a parent of a child attending the school at the time of election and appointment. “Parent” includes a
guardian and every person who has actual custody of the child or young person.
Any person who has care of the child even if that person is not the birth parent of the child or has no
parental responsibility for the child is to be regarded as a parent.
A person is disqualified from election or appointment as a parent governor of a school if they are employed
by the Trust for more than 500 hours (i.e. for more than one-third of the hours of a full-time equivalent) in a
school year (at the time of election and appointment).
