Governors Overview

The Governing Body are responsible for setting the schools strategic direction, and to work with the School Leadership team to ensure it is accountable to offer the best learning journey for the children in a fun, safe environment.

It is the Governing Bodies focus to:

  • set the vision and strategic direction of school;
  • hold the headteacher to account for its educational performance; and
  • ensure financial resources are well spent.

The Governing Body at Saint Sebastians’ is comprised of parent governors, foundation governors, a staff representative, a governor appointed by the Local Authority, co-opted governors and the Head teacher to provide strategic direction and accountability.

The whole Governing Body meets regularly and is divided into three key committees – Finance and Resources, Curriculum and Assessment and Staff and Pupil Care. As a team we are responsible to constantly help raise standards for the school and monitor operational progress of improvement targets for their school.

Parents have an opportunity to join the Governing Body as Parent Governors. Elections are held when vacancies arise.
