The children have settled in well to their phonics groups and are working hard. It is important that children read at home every night to an adult and bring their books / logs to school everyday. Could I also please ask that parents sign reading logs to show children have read at home. Remember to practice your phonic sound and High Frequency (HFW) /'Red' words too. Children will be expected to keep their book until they can read it with fluency without sounding out words.

Thank you!

In Year 1 and 2 children need to securely know number bonds to 10 and be able to apply these in their work.

Year 1 children need to count, recognise and write numbers to 100

Year 1 children will begin to be able to count in 2's, 5's and 10's in preparation for multiplication.

Year 2 children will soon be starting to learn formal times tables. It is essential that children learn these.
